Ruellia brittoniana 'Katie'

Katie Ruellia Purple

Dwarf Katy is a dwarf growing version with all the best features, none of the less desirable ones. They make great filler and borders for mixed perennial beds as well as adapting well to permanent potted culture. The flowers are bright colored, five petaled petunia-like singles that are present nearly every day from early spring to early winter in the subtropics.

Planting

From Early Spring TO Early Spring

Roellia are very invasive, they grow horizontal roots that grow above and below ground, making them difficult to remove thus they are best planted in containers and the containers can be submerged into the ground to prevent spreading. It is also wise to remove seed heads before they ripen as these explode and spread seeds for some distance. They grow in most soil types but prefer moist but well drained sites.
