Elderberry 'York'
Sambucus canadensis, the American black elderberry, is a medium to large shrub that will grow in many different types of conditions, bears flat umbels of small creamy-white flowers in late Spring / early Summer, followed by clusters of small black edible berries. It is a suckering shrub. 'York' bears white flowers, and in Summer soft, dark purple berries that are good for cooking or for jams, jellies and wines rich in vitamin C.
