Sauromatum horsfieldii
Sauromatum horsfieldii
Sauromatum horsfieldii sports small, multi-divided leaves which suddenly appear late in the Spring and sit looking as if they will never flower. Later in the year, perhaps in mid-summer, a bud suddenly erupts from below the leaves and opens to a pale lemon or light tan, waisted spathe with a white interior and white spadix. A quiet little plant (never over 15 cm tall) for a pot or selected garden spot.

Planting
From Early Spring TO Early Spring
Sauromatum horsfieldii is easy to grow either in pots or planted directly in the ground. Although I have never found this species to be fussy with regards to soil type, aim for a rich growing medium and ensure that drainage is reasonably good. If planting out, plant in full sun. Well-drained but moist humus-rich soil. Keep it well mulched.
