Silene acaulis 'Frances'

Moss Campion 'Frances'

Silene can be annuals, biennials or herbaceous or evergreen perennials. The leaves are untoothed, and the flowers can be solitary or clustered, and have 5 petals, often notched. Silene Acaulis is an alpine that grows in high mountain and arctic regions all across the world. It is a cushion-forming evergreen perennial with tiny green leaves, and in late Spring and Summer tiny little pink starry flowers appear. It grows best in well-drained, gritty soil. It does not do well in Summer heat, so is suitable for areas with cool Summers. It is not drought tolerant. 'Frances' has pale pink flowers
