Propagation by seed
From Early Spring TO Late Winter
Sow indoors at any time. Prior to sowing soak seeds for 48 hours in warm water. Drain. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover seeds, simply press into the soil. Light is needed for germination. Mist the seeds lightly and place in a propagator or seal in a polythene bag to maintain humidity. Place somewhere warm and bright. Mist daily. Germination takes from 2 weeks. Once germinated admit air. Transplant seedlings when 5-8cm tall to a 20cm pot and grow on under glass.
Planting young plants
From Early Spring TO Early Spring
This is a tropical tree and will require frost-free protection. Grow under glass in the temperate climates. A conservatory or heated greenhouse is ideal. This tree will grow to 18m in tropical locations but will be much smaller when container grown under glass. Prefers a loamy-clay soil which is moist in a sunny situation. Min. temp. 1°C.
