Stephania perrieri
Climbing Rock Plant
Stephania perrieri, also known as climbing rock plant, is a vining caudiciform plant native to Southeast Asia. As its caudex matures, it will develop furrows and an undulating structure, with vines of heart-shaped leaves coming out of the top. It grows into a remarkable specimen over time, and its vining habits can be controlled with pruning when desired. Stephania perrieri makes a good plant for container based gardening, responding well to small growing environments and filtered sunlight via windowsill habitation. If stephania perrieri is allowed to grow in its natural manner uninterrupted, it will climb any structure close enough for it to grasp onto; although it's easy to restrain this habit with regular pruning if this isn't a desirable trait. When stephania perrieri is grown in drier conditions with cooler temperatures, it may become deciduous in the wintertime and drop its leaves. If grown in warmer temperatures year round (such as in most homes), it will maintain its evergreen nature.
