This evergreen perennial has woody stems that are clothed in small green leaves, which emit a spicy aroma when they are brushed past or gently bruised. Teucrium fruticans is a species Teucrium native to western and central Mediterranean. It has silver green aromatic leaves, producing velvet white shoots and pale blue lavender flowers.
