They are closely allied to the genus Heuchera, bearing feathery spikes star-shaped flowers. Tiarella cordifolia is a species Tiarella and has a creeping habit and is an excellent ground cover plant. The heart shaped green foliage turns bronze-red in autumn and clusters of creamy-white flowers on long stems appear in spring.
