Trachycarpus Takil
Kumaon Palm
Trachycarpus takil grows to 10–15 metres (33–49 ft) tall, with a rough trunk covered in partial fiber from the old leaf bases as it sheds its fronds naturally leaving only a small part of the leaf bases on the trunk which also disappear in time. It is one of the cold hardiest palms to produce a tall trunk, tolerating temperatures from -14 to -20 °C.

Propagation
From Early Spring TO Late Summer
Can be propagated from suckers. Grow under glass or as a houseplant in a loam-based compost in bright, indirect light. When in growth water moderately and feed with a balanced fertiliser once a month. Water sparingly in winter
Planting young plants
From Early Spring TO Late Spring
Plant young plants out in spring. Trachycarpus prefers partial shade and needs to be planted in a loamy soil which is well drained. To offer protection from strong winds which can damage the plant, it is best planted in the shaddow of a wall or fence protecting it from the prevailing winds. It prefers an acid to neutral soil.
