The flowers are usually goblet-shaped, or star-shaped, with 3 petals and 3 sepals, in a wide range of colours, except blue (tulips with "blue" in their name are more violet, than blue). 'Praestans' tulips are dwarf multi-headed tulips with pointed petals. 'Red Sun' has bright red blooms
