Valerian is a mat-forming, fast-growing and long flowering plant. It has green/grey leaves, and from mid Spring, clusters of flowers that will bloom right through to Autumn, if regularly dead-headed. 'Aurea' has scented leaves, the basal ones are simple, and the leaves on the stems are pinnate. All the leaves open yellow in Spring, and turn to green-yellow in Summer, as sprays of small white flowers appear
