Veronica are a group of plants found in the Plantain family, Plantaginaceae. Most plants are native to territories in the northern hemisphere, however Hebe is originally native to New Zealand. Veronica plants tend to have paired green leaves, and small flowers usually on spikes or racemes. Specifically, Veronica longifolia is a tall upright herbaceous perennial which is native from Europe through to northern Asia. It has deciduous long lance shaped green leaves, and produces tall spikes of flowers ranging in colour from blues, pinks, purples and whites. 'First Love' is a compact variety that bears spires of bright pink flowers.
