Long-Leaf Speedwell Blauriesin in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Veronica longifolia 'Blauriesin' syn. Veronica longifolia 'Blue Giantess', Veronica longifolia 'Foerster's Blue'

Long-Leaf Speedwell 'Blauriesin'

Veronica are a group of plants found in the Plantain family, Plantaginaceae. They are typically herbaceous annual or perennial plants, although they now recently include shrubs and sub-shrubs since the reclassification of the genus Hebe into Veronica. Most plants are native to territories in the northern hemisphere, however Hebe is originally native to New Zealand. Veronica plants tend to have paired green leaves, and small flowers usually on spikes or racemes. Specifically, Veronica longifolia is a tall upright herbaceous perennial which is native from Europe through to northern Asia. It has deciduous long lance shaped green leaves, and produces tall spikes of flowers ranging in colour from blues, pinks, purples and whites. 'Blauriesin' (or 'Blue Giantess' or 'Foerster's Blue' as it is sometimes sold as) has long spikes of violet-blue flowers.
