I was discussing this with my hubby the other day and he couldn't understand why it was a problem that there are Spanish bluebells. I explained that they are taking over our native ones and then read an online forum and someone had made a very good point; plants have been around far longer than humans and they have hybridised many, many times and there is nothing much we can do about it and it is the natural order of things. I hadn't thought of it like that before. Thought it interesting 😌
Interesting point @rachelbrooks but a lot if the problems are that man has brought plants to places they would not or should not be naturally and when that happens the thugs tend to win! A bit like an untended garden, before long the thugs take over, then the weeds take over. Feel that as in life we should keep the thugs in their place and then everyone and every plant is given the chance to succeed without being bullied too much. ☺
Quite Stephen, I would hate for our natives ones to disappear. I'm not sure we can control it now though... @Hawick1514 although I do tend to pull the Spanish ones up when they appear Robert! 😬
I will definitely deadhead them and also the English ones too, so they won't spread... Or maybe will take them back to continental Europe 😏 @rachelbrooks @Hawick1514 PS. just have to say, this place would be quite different without plants brought from elsewhere centuries ago or even in recent days. Just a thought 🤔
#bluebells, looks like the spanish one, but don't care as it's still a Bluebell 😉

Good point Rachel. Evolution has it's plans, and I suppose will have to accept that. @rachelbrooks 🤔
