How old is this Chinese elm? I got seeds growing to do bonsai. Aware it will be a long term commitment but unsure of times.

This is 9 years. I bought it at the age of 8. If you really want to do it then I highly recommend growing in the ground or a larger pot first to really thicken the trunk then prune back hard and start to develop as bonsai. Root pruning is a must too every few years to get a great structure up top

@marlynroses No I bought it on Amazon actually. I've trained some of the upper branches but nothing more :) I have about 5 bonsai. Really love them how they mirror the seasons. Flick through the pictures on here and you'll see :)
Not at all @marlynroses I have it in bonsai soil and it just lives on my bathroom windowsill year round. I feed it once a week and in summer give it a drenching with the shower when it's dry. Love it
Wow.. I may have to share a pic of my ilex crenata but its not as impressive ad your bonsai
