My first thought was Gunnera (Giant Rhubarb) like @joanboston but it doesn't look tall enough. Then I thought Indian Rhubarb so am calling on @Garyg as he has both in hos garden to take a look 👀👌
Help me identify this plant

How big are the leaves? It looks like gunnera manicata, it's leaves are the size of umbrellas!

Might it be a type of rheum? If it flowers that might help identification.
We had a gunnera in our previus garden. We sunk it in a large pot to keep it smaller and it worked well.
Looks like indian rhubarb (darmera) the leaves are a bit smaller and smoother than gunnera.
I think they flower early spring before the leaves appear.
