I'm pretty sure this was a #lily. Anyone know why the bottom leaves are dead? #advice-lily

I'm not an expert (plus I don't know correct terminology) but from my experience after the flower has spent, that's what starts to happen. I always cut mine all the way down and they come back the next year. They say not to cut them back until the end of summer or until is completely through to help with next years blooms but like I said, mine do come back.

I sure do love the asiatic lily, but I don't like how they look after the flower is gone 😔

Thank you. Yeah it's not very pretty but it's worth the wait for it to bloom again

@AmyBayless if you have a place outside to plant it, fall is the time to do it. They are a perrenial bulb and will come back and flower everyyear. In order to rebloom they need to go through a "winter" dormant period. Wait until the stock is not green any more before you cut it. If the plant is still green it is still feebing the bulb nutrients for next year. Lilies perform much better in the ground and will multiply. I have never had luck, trying to keep bulbs/lilies in a pot.

@AmyBayless if you are ready to put it in the ground cut the plant down to the surface of the soil and plant it.
