@lovestogarden this is the tree. It's a pawpaw . I figured out what it was. O have them all over the place. Where I live there is a pawpaw festival every year.
Nice! Just got a 'Prima' and will receive a 'NC1' (both self fertile) do you know enough varieties to give some advice on a third one that could give a nice contrast? (heard there are many different flavours depending on variety)
So you never went to the festival in your country 😁 it's starting to get a lot of interest among well informed gardeners in Europe. (at least its not difficult to find some) can't wait to taste one for the first time 😝
@poiuz I haven't been to the local festival. I need to go and find a way to cook these things! We have probably 15 trees in the woods. I used to go picking them as a kid with my grandpa. We always called them "west Virginia bananas" lol . They taste like an unripe banana.
Funny how I feel I'm getting to a hype you always known from childhood lol... I heard the most known is ice-cream or beer (in the festival) but I heard more like mango-banana and surely NOT unripe 🤔 maybe the varieties established in plantation are getting much tastier (like bananas for centuries hehe...)
@poiuz they look kind of like a mango with a banana taste here. But yet I got ahold of a friend who has won the festival last 5 years in a row so she can use ours this year. Don't like to see things go to waste. I plan on going to the festival this year though. I love that the trees are here on our property, now to use them. But, yes where you are they are most likely hybrids or something if they are not naturally there. Let me know when you get a chance to get one!
@poiuz I am interested in the difference between the ones you have and we have. Tag me in photos if you put any up! :-) we have two species of honeysuckle here one is natural the other is from Japan and has become invasive (although I love them both) good for tea and the smell is amazing. We have a whole fince covered in the Japanese variety. I like to see how things change from location.
Well as said I just ordered my second one : cultivar "NC1" which is an hybrid between 'Davis' and 'oveleese' and already have a 'Prima' described as a very prometous Italian breed... But I don't freaking know I never tasted one!! 🤣 I'm just trying to get what looks good on paper and from videos but they are SO MANY I'm absolutely lost....... If your friend has some knowledge I would surely appreciate any feedback or advice whatsoever 😜
Maybe I'll get a third one called 'mango' (with the strongest mango flavor) I don't know... I think I'll wait to have more intell (if that's how it's written lol) ☺️
I have 7-10 pawpaw trees in my yard. #pawpaw

How cool. The flower I beautiful. I almost looks like a wood carving.

@poiuz I honestly don't know a lot about them. Where I live they are just wild everywhere.
