Yay for the 1st of September, it’s Wattle Day in Australia! 💛 Wattle Day is a day to celebrate Australia - our land and our people. Wattle is our national floral emblem and landmarks and public buildings are lit up in shades of yellow to wish everyone a Happy Wattle Day. 🌼🌼🌼 #wattle #acacia Thanks to @cherryred.horticulture for sharing. 💛

@emch and @ShelleySnyder: Wattle Day isn’t a public holiday. But it is a day to celebrate Australia - our land and our people. Wattle is our national floral emblem and landmarks and public buildings are lit up in shades of yellow to wish everyone a Happy Wattle Day. 🌼🌼🌼

Wattle Day is also used to raise money for community causes such as local bush fire brigades and charities for women, children and disabled people. While a century ago sprigs of wattle and wattle badges were sold to raise money for wounded soldiers in the First World War.
