Athyrium niponicum pictum 'Godzilla'

9 Aug 18 • Well it may not have turned into Godzilla yet but at least it hasn’t succumbed to the drought (though apparently drought ‘may force dormancy’ rather than an early death) 🤓

Just the last frond that is looking a bit dodgy. I cut all the brown fronds from another fern earlier today - and there were none left 🙈 @rachelbrooks

One of my ferns has lots of brown fronds at the base and I was wondering whether to prune it but there would be nothing left and I don't know if they will grow back this year.

Same here, my ostrich fern has lots of brown fronds due to low humidity. I've decided not to cut back even though they look a bit tatty.

My ostrich ferns aren’t too bad (they are in complete shade) but it’s my regal fern that has nothing left... I’m hoping it has just been ‘forced into dormancy’. It was huge too 😢 @ublaszko @DickieLeysh

I think the size of the fern must influence this @awomanonabike . My smaller ferns in the same patch are more or less okay. Harts tongue seems to have been eaten which is unusual for me. But the largest of my ferns is the only one with this browning of the fronds

You may be right. I just hope it survives. It is a really beautiful very tall fern 💚 @DickieLeysh

It’s very similar to Pewter Lace but apparently grows a lot taller. They are both lovely and there’s always a dark corner that needs a fern 💚 @Jasonsparkes1

My fern is a smallish one but it's in a pot and I probably didn't water it enough. It needs watering every day but I missed have missed a couple of days. I might only prune a few leaves to see if new one are still growing from the base.
