Camellia japonica 'Doctor King'

Here’s another of my #failures This was next to the summer house but I think was also overhung by a yew. The result is that I think it must have dried out over late winter and early spring, before I realised what was happening. I’ve now moved it close to the house, so I won’t forget about it and forget to water it. Hopefully my next photo will be of it in all its full glossiness again 🤞Do I now get absolution for my sins with all this honesty 🙄😂

Mine looks the same. I left it in a corner to plant it out after we moved house last July and it was doing well. I forgot we get morning sun in that corner though and I think when frost hit and then sun it got scorched. Not too bothered, I usually cut it back a few cm every year anyway as I'm trying to prune it to look like a tree. Did yours flower in previous years?

It’s only 2 years old but seems to be a fast grower. It had flowers when I got it and flowered last year when it was on the balcony but not this year. I don’t think it liked its new home at all...despite being protected from morning sun ☀️ 🙄 @ublaszko

Mine is 3 or 4 years old but it was a young plant when I got it. Perhaps it will flower next year.

Keep it away from the morning sun and I’m sure it will 🤞 @ublaszko

🤔 I’ve decided to move this. It was on the balcony so you could see it from inside the house but I hadn’t appreciated how late it flowers and it was blocking the door 🙄 I thought the red would look good against the stone, just not sure how much sun this spot gets in the mornings...Will have to pay attention 🤓

@awomanonabike their plants are always much bigger than the plugs you’d get on most websites for double the price too. It’s incredible value really. Could fill a garden for next to nothing
