When I'm not on my bike, you'll find me in my organic-ish garden in #Cumbria. Favourite plants? Wisteria, hellebores, peonies, philadelphus...

Ficus benjamina

That was the procrastination Jane! Perils of working from home 🏡 But thanks, it is looking like it might have avoided being thrown to the compost gods 😊 @pelly

I was slow to realise that this had become infested with scale insect 😱 and by the time I had it was affecting almost every leaf. So...I’ve trimmed it to half its height, removed any dead or dying leaves and cleaned the rest by hand, rubbing to remove the scales. I’ve no idea if this will be enough but I hope so... #scaleinsect #desperatemeasures

I feel very guilty Katie. I’m sure I told you I was going to “deal with this” when you were over in the summer. 🤔 Hey ho! 🙄 @brightcolours

This happened to my beautiful Abutilon and I never managed eradicate it completely. Luckily I had taken a cutting which is indoors, but I've put the infested one back outside hoping the cold will finish them off and the plant might survive the cold. I didn't want to share my sunroom with it as it was, so it's worth the risk

I had scale on my bay tree Sue. It was years ago, when I used to put it in the greenhouse in the winter. I put it outside to kill-or-cure and it cured! Hope your abutilon does too 😊 @susanhumphrey333
