When there was an #orchid day on here recently I didn’t have any pictures of flowers to post ... but I will have soon 😃 including coming form the old flower stalk that I didn’t remove 🤔🧐
That must be where I’m going wrong as I chop them right back ☹️👍🏼
Well I do too if they’re dead but this one was still green so I left it. So glad I did now 😃 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
@awomanonabike 👍🏼I’ll try that in future
I’m not sure if I’ve ever done it before tbh 🤔 Seems worth it now though 👍 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Best to cut back to about 6 inches and just above a node Elaine @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
@valjones-hughes I’ve done that before too Val....I have had a little success but most of the time I end up flowerless...☹️
I thought that too Val but the tall one on the left has flower shoots coming off high up on the old shoot 🤔🧐 @valjones-hughes

10 Feb 2019 • All on the kitchen window sill where they seem to enjoy being next to the kettle 😉 #orchid
Stunning Jacqui!
Thanks Val. Not as big a collection as yours though, which are superb! @valjones-hughes
Hey, I have a windowsill with a kettle next to it in the kitchen. I wonder if I could grown one myself 😆😆
I’m sure you could. They like humidity, which the occasional boiling of the kettle and doing dishes gives them 👍😂 @ublaszko
I took it too literally last time I had them and put them in the bathroom. Turns out having someone run a bath every night and steam in it for more than an hour is not the orchid's idea of humidity. The roots rotted away before I noticed there was a problem. I'm waiting for a bargain orchid so I don't feel so bad if I kill it. 😁
Aw! Poor you. And poor orchids! Good luck next time @ublaszko
Beautiful 💚
Might need it! 😅
Thank you sweetie. Do you recognise the one bottom left with the faint pink blush? 💕 @rachelbrooks
Nah! Just don’t leave the kettle on 😉 @ublaszko
Oh of course! 😉 aww well at least it had a happy home with you 💕😘

3 Jan 19 • Three out of four. Not bad 😃
👋 👋 Rachel, Top right is your orchid. Not only is it still flowering but there are new buds too 😍 @rachelbrooks
Ahh you clever girl 👏🏼👌🏼 it’s lucky it came to live with you (and not me! 😉😂) 😘
It’s still just where I first put it, on the kitchen windowsill, with steam from the kettle and the washing up and all those kitchen cooking smells. It loves it 😉😂 @rachelbrooks
😂😂 well whyever not? It’s a fab environment! 😉
So pretty 🤗😊💕
Thank you. It’s so lovely to have such amazing flowers at this time of year 💕 @terrimclaughlin
😍😍😍

20 March 2018 • What can I say?! Seems the cleaner (that’ll be me) hasn’t been doing their job properly and these buds take a really long time to open...
I hope that is an actual spider and not spider mites. I was horribly mistaken when I saw and on my lemon tree. 😒
Sorry about that Jenn. I was just hearing today about red spider mites and what they do to peach trees but this is definitely a spider. George probably. It’s usually him 😉 @jennlamaye
Haha get your feather duster out woman!! Xx
I’m too busy warming my toes by the fire 😉 @clipperty
Haha. Good thing! 💕
And dust is my hubby's number one complaint about my lack of cleaning. Lol
Tut tut Jacqueline 😂😂
Well you can’t clean that! Then where will George live? 🙄 you’re providing a wildlife sanctuary right there 😉
#wildlifewednesday 😉😂 @rachelbrooks
See! Another reason to not dust! 👍🏼🙌🏼😉
I’m a mature woman. I don’t need reasons 😂😂😂 @rachelbrooks

Sometimes you just need a photo of an orchid 😊
And a beautiful one it is Jacqueline 😍😍
Thank you Jane. It is a lovely one isn't it. No idea what it's called I'm afraid @daisy-jane
#orchid #plantID-orchid @Christos @blommeboer
@brightcolours @awomanonabike looks like a Phalaenopsis Winter Carnival Carousel Hybrid.
#phalaenopsis
Thank you! @Christos @brightcolours
@rachelbrooks Do you remember this? It’s off again 💚🤍💚
Ooh I do!! Looking fabulous! 👏🏼 wish I could keep one!
I’m sure you could. Mine sit on the kitchen windowsill behind the sink and the kettle, so get lots of humidity, and I water them once a week. Simples 😉😂 @rachelbrooks
I’d love to know what your secret is Jacqueline 🤷🏼♀️
No secret Elaine ⬆️ That is it. Really. Bright windowsill but no direct sun after about mid-day 👍@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Do you cut the long stems off....and, I have a lovely one in flower now but the leaves are limp 😟
I know you are supposed to but I didn’t on this one as they were still green. If you look closely you’ll see some of the buds are coming from the old stems 😃 I think sometimes they can go limp if they are getting too much water. Make sure it isn’t sitting in water and maybe try easing up on the watering 🤔 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Thanks Jacqueline will do..👍🏼
Just came across this Elaine. Might help https://www.justaddiceorchids.com/orchid-care-blog/how-do-i-know-if-im-overwatering-my-orchid @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Just read it and can’t believe I’m over watering them....so I’ll refrain from watering this one and see if it will bounce back, thanks for the info 👍🏼
You’re welcome. I didn’t know the stuff about the colour of the roots. Not sure I’ll be using ice cubes but I can see the logic 🤓 It also says that flowers can drop if the plant is too near ripe fruit 🙃@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
I’ve just had a better read and I think it could be the start of root rot....it’s easier to care for children 🤯😆 the fruit thing is bizarre...
