Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata 'Black Barlow'

Good morning GTers! Here's another one from last year! I've never had much luck at growing #aquilegia but this variety seemed to do very well last year! Have a fantastic Friday everyone! 😀 #flashbackfriday

I have foliage, but then all my Aquilegias seem to have year round. I’m forever cutting it back. I hope yours appears soon Ian 🙏🤞

@pelly - Thanks Jane! I just seem to have terrible trouble growing them! Other people seem to grow them like weeds! Shame because there are some really beautiful varieties that I'd love to grow and photograph! 😀

I have the same problem, love them but can't grow them. 😥 I'm hoping they will do better this year. I moved them to full shade even though the advice says part shade. They're always struggling with white fly as well.

Good evening all! I don't usually have much luck growing #aquilegia in my garden but this year I seem to be doing something right as I have several plants bursting into bloom! This one is called Black Barlow! 😀

And they will double in size next year too 💜💜💜

They spread like weeds here not that I mind

@Keely - Really? The flowers are quite tiny! A couple of them are already infested with green fly too! 😔

@slj - Everyone says that they're like weeds spreading, but not in my garden! Can't remember the last time I got them through the winter! 😀

I squished a few greenflies on mine last night you do have to watch them lickle blighters 😣
