Good morning GTers! Another pretty #aquilegia bloom, this time from dad's garden! This one was a nice surprise as it must have arrived as seed blown in from a neighbouring garden! Have a marvellous Monday everyone! 😀 #columbine

Good morning GTers! It's another frosty morning here in Southampton! Remarkably I haven't managed to kill off my #aquilegia yet, although there's still plenty of time before they bloom! Hope you all have a lovely day! 😀 #frost #yourseason
Morning Ian, and I thought it was meant to be sunny??? great picture 😘😘
@charlottejhurst - Good morning Charlotte! I've given up on the weather forecasters! Hopefully the sun will make an appearance at some point! 😀
I agree 😄 have a good day 😊😊

My #aquilegia Winky Rose has started to flower! I'm a bit disappointed that the flowers are so small, but at least I haven't killed it yet! 😀
Pretty colour though, reminds me of a good red wine or a jug of sangria (now there's an idea after a busy day in the garden!)
It is Wednesday after all. Bring on the wine 😋
Have been digging, potting out, removing old bulbs, weeding and generally wearing myself out all afternoon so I think we all deserve a glass or three! @tash74 @charlottejhurst 🍷🍷🍷😀
Absolutely! Wine Wednesday is a thing, right? I for one am going to indulge ;-)
If it's not a thing we should make it a thing! Cheers! 🍷😀 @tash74
It's definitely a thing in our house! Couldn't find sangria on Sainsburys so made do with some red wine, Spanish grape and elderflower presse and a couple of ice cubes! Just like being on holiday in Spain! Cheers!

Last one for tonight! This is one of my new purchases! Very excited to have an #aquilegia in my garden once again after all the problems I've had with them recently! This one is called Winky Rose and should look stunning if I can keep it alive until it opens! 😀

Morning GTers! My #aquilegia growing attempts continue to frustrate me! The few plug plants I was growing on have met their demise overnight for some reason or other! So, here's a memory of happier times from a few years ago when I must have been luckier! 😀
@latebloomer - Thank you Deborah! 😀
Morning Ian , this is fabulous , think I'm not going to get a shot like this on my iPhone 6 😂😂😂 any ideas for something a bit better that doesn't cost the earth and easy to use 🤔??
Sorry to hear you're having issues but great shot from happier times 👍
Thanks @juliesgarden @justin 😀
Morning! Fabulous photo. I'm afraid I just stick with the self seeding varieties 😂 Are they getting damping off? Perhaps 🤔
@juliesgarden - Actually I'm a big fan of the iPhone camera, but you're right, getting a shot like this requires a bit more kit - like three external flashes for a start! For something a bit more modest, I would go for one of the higher end compacts from Sony or Panasonic! I actually use a Sony RX100 model when I visit garden centres, and they can be picked up quite cheaply if you go for an older model like the Mk2 or Mk3! Hope this helps! 😄
Hi @ellenmarygardening - they've just turned yellow and are wilting away! Could I have overwatered them?
@bigemrg very possible. If they are too damp & warm they can be susceptible to it 😕
@ellenmarygardening - Ah, well they were in my grow house yesterday and it was very hot and they were standing in a small amount of water! Doesn't look like they'll recover but I'll keep my fingers crossed! Thanks! 😀
@bigemrg That's such a shame, isn't it crazy how they will self seed everywhere but sulk when you try and nurture them. I know they are very susceptible to mildew and botrytis, try a very sandy potting compost and avoid them sitting in damp conditions. If all elsewhere fails, just try making a free draining nursery bed outside and sowing the seed direct? Which varieties were you growing?
Thanks Ian , I'll have a look 👍👍

Here's another of my missing #aquilegia blooms from a couple of years ago! Pretty aren't they? Wish they liked my garden as much as the weeds do! lol
That's a cracking photo Ian 👍
Thanks @justin - it helps that the subject is so pretty too! 😀
That is pretty👍
@bigemrg thats so delicate and pretty
Beautiful! They always remind me of my Mum- they were one of her favourites :) i was so happy to find them springing up like weeds in my new garden. Can't wait til they bloom, I hope they are as pretty as yours.
Thanks @melvynprentice @MrsCheerfulGardener 😀
Beautiful! I am a huge Aquilegia fan. I don't have nearly enough
@DebsC - Wish I could grow them! Had about 30 a couple of years ago, half a dozen last year, none so far this year - apart from some plugs I bought, but even those are looking dodgy! Don't think I'm destined to have them! 😀
@sara2309 - Me neither! See my comment above! lol 😀
I grow them all from from seed.
@bigemrg how odd :( mind you they usually turn up where/when you least expect them! I know in one garden I had, they didn't appear at all some years, then all of a sudden i was honoured with there presence! If these are nice I could collect you some seed?

Morning GT peeps! At this time of year a couple of years ago I had many of these lovely #aquilegia blooms gracing my garden! I read that they would self seed and spread like weeds, and my garden would be full of them within a couple of years! Well, today I can't find any! Oh well...
Good morning! Another freezing one here. That aquilegia is lovely, I have to admit. Mine are all a lilac colour and all I ever do is keep digging them out. They get everywhere!
@rusty - Yes, everything white here in Southampton too! Very envious of your lilac coloured weed problem! lol 😀
what a shame :(
Gorgeous! #yellow #pink #aquilegia
Morning Ian❄️❄️
Beautiful colour combo 👍
I must admit they self sow here What a pity yours haven't. Try again?
@joanboston - Got some plug plants on the go but they're not looking too healthy at the moment! Don't think I'm destined to have them in my garden!
Mine never self seeded either n mine are lilac but no where near in bud waiting for 🌞 no doubt come next year at this rate ❄😈
@Keely - Don't think the mad weather is helping anyone out at the moment, especially not us gardeners and our little friends! 😀
Morning all , seems like I'm the only one without the frost this morning 😳. I've just sown some aquilegia not sure whether I'll be successful, 1st time growing these !!
Good morning GTers! I've never been very lucky with growing #aquilegia in my garden but this variety has come back year after year! Shame I don't know what variety it is! Have a super Sunday everyone! 😀 #colourpop
Morning ☁️ Ian, pretty flower. You too.
@solly1961 - Morning Mark! It's definitely one of my more stunning blooms at the moment! 😀
Beautiful flower 😍
@sherrisgarden - I completely concur Sherri! 😀
Beautiful! What a great photo 💕💕💛💛
@midnightgardener - Thanks very much Christine! 😀
