Good morning GTers! The Mahonia japonica has been looking good recently! Have a lovely day everyone! #mahonia #yellow
Morning Ian, I think I’m going to have to invest in one of these for some winter colour 💛💛
@pelly - Morning Jane! They certainly keep the colour going until the spring bulbs kick in! 😀
Good morning Ian. It certainly is very attractive especially in these dull days of winter. Enjoy your day 🖐☺💛
Beautiful bright colour💛💛
@flof1952 - Good morning Pauline! Yes it definitely adds a bit of colour! Looking forward to the purple berries next! 😀
@kathy - Yes, they're a great shrub for brightening up a dark corner on a winter's day! 😀
Still waiting for mine to perform. So bright but also wonderful for winter scent
@awomanonabike - Really Jacqueline? This has been flowering since October and is just about finished! Must admit that I haven't noticed any scent from it! Hope yours gets underway soon! 😀
Morning ian @bigemrg where have you been, missed your wonderful pics. Good to have you back look forward to your posts 👌 hope you had a lovely Christmas & new year 😘
Must be a different variety. Mine doesn’t flower until late winter and smells of honey 😊💛😊💛😊 (Just re-read your first comment 🙄😬 Mine are aquifolium)
@jadojado29 - Good morning Suzie! New job has been keeping me busy but I'm hoping to be more active here this year! Have been ill over Christmas so it wasn't great unfortunately! Hope you had a lovely time! 😀

Good morning GTers! The #mahonia japonica berries are looking great at this time of year! They feature in my weekly photo #blog which you can see at the following link if you're interested - www.bigemrg.co.uk/blog/latest Have a great day everyone! 😀 #berry
Morning Ian 😁
@juliesgarden - Good morning Julie! 😀
Edible??
@Sussanah - According to Wikipedia..."Although edible, the plants contain berberine, a compound found in many Berberis and Mahonia species, which can cause vomiting, lowered blood pressure, reduced heart rate, lethargy, and other ill effects when consumed in large quantities." ☺️
Morning Ian enjoy your day 😊
Morning Mr beautiful photo 💟 don’t think I’ll be eating the berries 😲
@bigemrg Morning Ian 👋
@pauline33 - Good morning Pauline, you too! 😀
@nessas - Morning Vanessa! Hehe! Think I'll be giving them a miss too! 😀
@mikethegardener - Good morning Mike! 😀
👍🏻👍🏻😬
Good morning GTers! Has everyone else been up since silly o'clock to watch the eclipse? Back on Earth the #mahonia berries are starting to look their best at this time of year! Have a marvellous Monday everyone! 😀 #berry
Morning Ian yes always up at silly o'clock great colour though 💘💘
I was up but it was too cloudy here unfortunately but I did catch a glimpse about half an hour ago 👍👍
@Keely - Good morning Keely! Once in a blue moon is often enough for me! 😀
@pelly - The eclipse was quite spectacular I thought, but I failed to get any photos as I'd left my tripod at dad's! Doh! 🙄
🙄🙄😂
Morning Ian. Always wake up early and saw the eclipse, slightly misty though
Yep! And I did have my tripod but still got camera shake. Really really must learn how to use the settings properly! 🙄
@kathy - Morning Kathy! Clear skies here so was quite impressive! 😀
@rachelbrooks - Oh no Rachel! Could have kicked myself when I realised my tripod wasn't in the car! Took a few shots handheld but it was pointless! Oh well! Only a decade or so to wait for the next one! 😀
Morning ...nope I didn’t , too cold and camera shake earlier in the evening got me 🤣
Lol yes not long! 🙄🙈
