My jade plants leaves on the bottom are shriveling up/falling off and turning brown. I last watered it on 18 July 2016 and the soil still feels moist. Help. #Jade #Help #PlantHelp 27 July 2016 photo taken
Mines doing the exact same
@kyleleonard is it normal?
It's normal for the lower leaves to die and fall off. Your plant does look like it needs more light.
@alovealoe dang before I left I moved it further away from the window so it would get less light. I will move it tonight next to a different window to give it bright light! This was one of my first plants and have had it for about 8-9 months. It's never looked so rough as it does now.
I never know when to water, which I think my problem is
Check my plant list to see the shrivelling I'm experiencing
@kyleleonard yes that's my problem. I'm probably going to buy one of those meter sticks because that would have to be more accurate than whatever I end up determining!
@blocherr @kyleleonard I stick my finger into the soil up to my first knuckle, if it feels damp in there I leave it for longer, I water roughly every week during the sunny hot weeks and if it's a bit grey and wet outside probably every 2 weeks. (All mine are mainly indoor plants though)
@blocherr @kyleleonard when you do water them, use lukewarm water (cold shocks the roots), let the water run through the pot until it's dripping out the bottom, then leave the pot somewhere until all the excess water has drained out. That's what has worked for me so far, hope it's useful 😊
@hazec thanks! I've been using room temperature water and don't water again until it's dry again (about every 2 weeks). This is my oldest plant and was doing so well until just a couple weeks ago.
@hazec @kyleleonard @alovealoe @brightcolours @Acetaker does anyone have a good website I can find a good recipe for well-draining soil with instructions for my indoor plants/succulents/cacti? I would appreciate any help!
