Developing my knowledge all the time. I love growing plants: barely any space on my windowsills, nor on my patio as it's full of pots. #renting.

Got to admit I don't have much luck with them! I think you're supposed to plant them deep to prevent clematis wilt and feed them lots!

Plant in full sun on a trellis it can grab onto unless you plan on tieing it as it grows. Plant the crown about an inch below ground pulling off any leaves that might be in the ground. Cover the area around the roots with other plants or a lightweight mulch. They like their roots cool but their heads hot. There are 3 groups of clematis with 3 different pruning methods. Look up carnaby unless it says, to see which group it's in to know how to prune. Hope this helps

The encyclopedia says it's a group 2, spring/early summer bloomer. https://www.waysidegardens.com/clematis-pruning-group-2/a/310/
