Sorry not been on much this week: super busy with work. This is why you shouldn’t cut back your orchid flower stems. You never know when they will send out another shoot of flowers! #orchid #phalaenopsis 30/11/19 #mothorchid

I read somewhere that cutting back the stem actually encourages them to send out new shoots

Well considering what poor condition this was in when I bought it, I’m so pleased. Top right flowers are last two that were on when I bought it. Now two more flowers have grown and opened and more buds on the way. So pleased it has recovered and doing well 😁 29/05/19 #orchid #mothorchid #phalaenopsis

Alison do you cut any of the long stalk off when it’s flowered..!

@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom only when it changes colour and I know that no more buds will develop. If I’d done that with the one on the left I wouldn’t have had these new buds developing. I learnt that a while ago it’s best to leave the stems as new flowers might come. 😁

How much do you cut off Alison...when it’s ready..

@anges Definitely! Couldn’t believe it when I saw it! I thought it would still be a couple of quid but it does look very sorry for itself. It’s sitting next to my other one which is very happy so hope it likes its new home!! 😊🤞🏼
