@donkinads I can't guarantee doing this isn't going to kill it though! I read to only take 1/3 of the growth out each season but I don't have the patience for that. It was either this or take the whole thing out which seemed too sad for a lovely mature plant

Fingers crossed for you after all that hard work, I hope it's ok. I will heed your advice and try be cautious, thank you for letting me know. Although it has somehow colonised inside the garage too, so now it's personal !
