Couldn't resist buying this!! Any tips on what to do with it?

I think it's a bit early for cannas but you could plant it in a pot with leftover compost (low nutrients). This way it won't dry out and it will allow the roots to develop without encouraging top growth. Then, in mid-May you can use fresh, rich compost. Keep it just moist for now. ☺

@ublaszko some great tips, thanks! Would seed compost be okay, or leftover potato grow sack better? Also should i keep it in or outdoors?

Seed compost would probably be good since it has low nutrient but open structure. They need protection from frost until mid-May so not outdoors but anywhere above 5 degrees should be ok. They don't need light atm, just moisture and frost protection. ☺

@ublaszko thanks! Do you think i should do the same for agapantgus and dahlia too?

If you bought dahlia bareroot you can store it as is until mid-March and then plant it in a pot slightly bigger than the tubers and keep indoors until about mid-May. Not sure about agapanthus. I have one and it flowers well but it's already been in the front garden when we moved in and I never do anything to it. All I know is that they like roots restricted so best to plant 2 or 3 tubers in one pot or use a small pot. I don't water it and the soil in my front garden is like dust so add grit 😊

@ublaszko thanks! Probably a stupid question but i assume one agapanthus tuber = one flower?

No idea 😁😅 I would think there would be at least 2-3 flowering stems per tuber. They probably won't flower in the first year anyway. This is a good guide on how to plant agapanthus but I'd swap biweekly liquid feed for slow release organic fertiliser. https://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/grow-plants/how-to-grow-agapanthus-in-a-pot/

You're welcome! Btw, dahlias and cannas will need rich soil, additional feed and consistent watering once they can go outside in mid-May. ☺
