Anyone got some advice for me? I tried last year with no success, so I am trying again! Really want it in a pot, so if you’ve grown it before hola at me please 🤩 #gingerlily #advice
I put mine in a small temp plastic pot just lightly moist (but not wet or damp) compost and wrapped it with clingfilm - it apparently needs a warm and humid environment to get going. Have you still got last years? Mine only sprouted about a month or so ago, after being covered for months 🙄
No I got a new one Rich, to be honest I think part of the problem was the one I got last year really didn’t look healthy. So I’m hoping this one will do better. I’ll give it a go, do you have yours undercover, or outside? @richard.spicer.7906
Ah ok. I’ve not got to that stage yet as it took ages to even pop up. I was hoping to have it outside in a pot. Currently it’s still in polytunnel till it’s got warmer. Jane has/had one last year which didn’t flower, but she mentioned tip about perhaps the rhizome might need to be on the surface. I hadn’t done that with mine but will try it when I repot it. How deep did you plant yours? @pelly
Yes I read that Jane, I think maybe I went too deep last year as well! I’ve included everything you have both said so 🤞 thank you both x @richard.spicer.7906 @pelly
I've just started some off @dan5584 and as the others have said, I've only half submerged them in compost. Mine all have swollen "lumps" on them which I'm assuming will break out as shoots. I've got mine on the worktop in our utility room as I think the temperature will be more consistent. Will be interesting to compare notes with yours 🌿
I’ve got mine in the kitchen by the door, so it’s warm but not too warm. Yes I noticed there were 2 red bulges on one side, so fingers crossed! Look forward to updates @churchfarmgarden

I did mine with half of it in the soil Dan and Rich, hoping it will flower this year @richard.spicer.7906 🤔👍
