Mine rotted away 😭😭😭 I didn't realise the soil would turn into mud although I backfilled the planting hole with compost. I think I'll need to add perlite next time and see what happens.

@ublaszko I haven't got many for the bulbs I planted, I guess I may not have them next year. My soil is on the heavy side.

What does the perlite do?

It's like grit but it's cheaper and lighter and it improves drainage. Basically, clay particles are really small so they stick together but perlite and grit are bigger so they break up clay and create air pockets... I think... 😅 It helps the soil drain faster and prevent it being waterlogged. @lesliecole49
