I've been dying to find out about growing strawberries! Can you grow them in a pot on your patio?! Do they need full sun, part sun, shade?

I currently grow mine indoors, you can grow them outside on a patio. Mine are growing under 2 T12 40w bulbs so there is no shade. @cyndi would have better answers for you as I don't garden with traditional conditions for strawberries. But mine seem to be doing really good with the conditions I have. Google also has some super great info on strawberries grown in pots. @vlp

If the runners are long enough, put another planter next to it and place the runner on the soil, you can place a small to rock on it to weigh it down. If not do it in the existing pot. When the runner establishes roots you can then snip it from the momma plant. It will form a new plant.

Oh, Make sure you pick the best looking runners. Cut the others from momma and get rid of them.

My gut was telling me that my strawberry needed transplanting, so I went ahead and checked the root and found that they had indeed outgrown the old terracotta pot it was in. I did pull the Saran Wrap off but it doesn't smell any different. However I do have a very terrible sense of smell. I'll have to ask my husband tomorrow since he has the better sense of smell.

So gave the rest of the remaining strawberry pots I hadn't already got rid a look over and found this. Idk if the middle part is roots and the top is mold or it's all mold. I did sow strawberry seeds in here back in July but am unsure if these are roots. I sprinkled ground cinnamon on top just incase it is mold. Out of seven containers I sowed with strawberry seeds this is the only one to sprout. These seeds were handpicked from a strawberry on my sister's birthday/sowed in JULY. Just found these this morning when I was going to repurpose the soil! What a happy surprise! These were the very first thing I attempted to grow from seed. Once I found them, I VERY carefully transplanted into clean soil (container this was in had mold growing so had to sanitize the soil). Now have it in clean soil I allowed the water to soak into the soil and again, carefully, planted the sprouts. I sowed the other seeds and placed them all into the baggie. Would anyone have any other advice???
