Help me identify this plant. #plantid #hedge Very large, 4m plus in friends rear garden. Birds nesting in it so leaving alone for now, but she wants to cut it back into old wood and I'm a bit concerned if it will regenerate. All foliage appears to be on this year's growth.
Looks like Ligustrum (privet) would fit with the nesting too 🐦 it can take a good prune but illegal if birds in situ !!! .. would be cautious to cut too far back into very old wood
Thanks @icedance yes definitely privet. Thanks for the heads up. I told her not to touch until nesting has finished. Apparently the gardener quoting was willing to continue anyway!!!

You’re very welcome ... sadly awareness and respect for nesting birds is not always there, hopefully they will wait .
