Destruction outside.... #Happiness & #Germination inside. 😃😃👍 I hope I get it to flowering stage. Cassia Javanica (Apple Blossom Shower Tree) #seedling #tropical #gardens
Thanks @mojo, if all goes well it may flower in 2-3 years from seed. It's a stunning tree from tropical areas, but can be container grown....apparently & take light frosts when mature.
I'll have to look it up 😊 I've been given a kowhai tree seed to grow by a friend from GTags. Do you know anything about them? Seems quite complicated to get it to germinate. 🤔
@mojo....like many subtropical/tropical seed it gets a nice hard coat, so you need to Nick/scar it to allow water to penetrate. I find scaring the easiest with a pair of nail clippers as you can control the cutting action better. Just always be careful that you only take the cost away and don't damage the embryo😃
@mojo then soak in warm water overnight. Actually not too complicated. I can complicate it for you if you want?? I now tend to use potassium nitrate solution which softens seed coats and helps stimulate the seed to germinate quicker, also called saltpetre....but that's conversation for another day!! 😃😃
That's brilliant thank you for finding out so quickly @thomasrat3 needs to be included as she gave me the seed. I can do complicated if pushed so will need to find out about potassium nitrate solution. Going to make good bed time reading I think! 😊
Thanks @latebloomer for the complement! Never been on forum before!! @mojo I have some pot nitrate if you need, I use it to soften most of my seeds, then you can still carefully remove some coating and soak in water, more complicated again, use distilled or rain water!! 👍👍

Well done 👏 @drnicko How long will you have to wait for it to get to the flowering stage. Lovely name for a tree 😊
