Ok I officially have no idea what’s going on with my compactum! I figured it was stretching for light since it’s in a smaller pot but it’s pretty much in the center of my 4ft lights and I pulled the light closer to the plants. None of my other plants are stretching. Is this really a Pachyphytum compactum or could it be something else? @veepaisal @Yollymac or anyone else!
Have you fertilized it or maybe repotted it recently? I read somewhere that over fertilization can cause them to stretch. Something about energy and putting out fast growth. You know how when they don’t get enough light they put an excessive amount of energy into growing taller? Possible that it has an excess of nutrients and that’s why it’s growing tall fast.
Good point! I have started adding a dilute amount to waterings lately, that must be it! Thanks! @ohhyouknow
Y/w I read that it is pretty easy to sort of flush the extra fertilizer out of the soil. Maybe flood it extra well next time you water. 😊
I may have just watered it with a bit of diluted fertilizer today 😅. Maybe I can still flush it. #whoops! @ohhyouknow
@ohhyouknow luckily all my other plants have been okay! I’m always learning!! Lol

Hey Amy. This one isn’t a Compactum. I will show you why I say that as I tag you next. Then, I will try to help you find an ID.

After looking at this pachy today I realized the exact distance my plants should be from the light. The taller pots are fine but not the shorter ones. I need to find something to put under the smaller pots to raise them up.
Good idea!

I think this is the right ID!
Not sure? @Yollymac @ham31 @succulentsplants @succulentwiki @succulentparadise any ideas ?
@muzz67 could by Pachyphytum Compactum. Actually the pointy, shirt leaves makes me thing more that than Clavifolia. Can we see it side on?
The angular markings on some of the leaves could be Compactum @Yollymac ?
@muzz67 - I was thinking that but then I thought they could also be water markings. So I erred on the side of caution. I am fairly certain it’s a Compactum though!
I’m thinking now it’s compactum, too. Thank you @Muzz67 and @Yollymac !
@Yollymac I guess it isn’t compactum then! I wonder what it is!
@ecoami - I will search a little more for you and see what I can come up with. Will add it to my wishlist for now so it doesn’t go by the wayside.
@ecoami - would it please be possible to get an updated top down image of this plant in natural day light?
Sure, not lights? I’ll try tomorrow!
@Yollymac here’s a few shots of the strange pachy that’s def not a compactum. I hope this helps identify it!
Whatever it is, I love that blue green colouring!
I will get searching for you. x
I’d like to compare flowers on this with Clavifolia.
I’ve been really thinking it’s clavifolia. I think it may have overstretched from too much fertilizer. I’m thinking of beheading it but it has character now! I should find a giraffe pot for it 🦒
Did you want to update the ID to Clavifolia pending flowers?
