Gardening in mostly deep shade in Zone 6. My passion is adding more native plants to my landscape & clearing out the foreign invasives.

Horrified to learn that what I planted as a native groundcover may be an Asian invasive. @DelbertYoung this may be the source of your problem with it: https://mdinvasives.org/iotm/may-2022/ So glad suddenly that mine refuses to spread!

Feel sooooo stupid that I didn't get a piece of this #midwesternnative when I had the chance! I just thought it was a plant with handsome leaves. *kicks self rather hard* #notmyphoto #greatname #interestingfoliage

I have plenty in Medina, NY. I started with one root and it has taken over in 10 short years. Extremely aggressive. But I started off loving it, now I despise it. But I understand!

Congratulations @DelbertYoung for encouraging local species! You may have succeeded too well 😁

@DelbertYoung maybe we should swap. I have a zillion #native plants to do a tradeski

@DelbertYoung I have continued to research these and I found something that says the native Lance Corporal is easy to confuse with a wildly invasive Japanese persicaria. Is it possible you are growing something other than the #midwesternnative ? It also says you have to deadhead relentlessly to keep the plants from self-seeding...

I’m not sure which type it is - I inadvertently brought it home from some plants I got in Illinois. I live in Medina, New York near Buffalo and we’ve never seen it here. It has taken over sections of my garden.

Hmm, @DelbertYoung let's dope this out. Is it similar to the photo above or are there differences?
