Gardening in mostly deep shade in Zone 6. My passion is adding more native plants to my landscape & clearing out the foreign invasives.

I can’t stand the stench of Bradford Pears, especially when whole streets are in bloom. Pretty Tree, nonetheless.

There's no reason not to plant crabapples instead @DelbertYoung @hkyfvr ! Crabs are native, they smell like heaven and they feed the local wildlife.

@emch I absolutely love the scent of Crabapples. I planted one in my backyard from a crabapple from a tree I just lost the previous season. Mine is now about 10 feet tall and had its first crabapples last year. They were bigger than normal, but a great tribute to an old, fallen tree.

If they are bigger than normal @DelbertYoung they might be good candied!

My Grandma made the best candied crabapples. Fond memories. A crabapple tree sounds great. 👍😍
