Last winter it stayed in my orangery, but I wonder if it will be ok in my living room? It just occurred to me that my kids are past that stage where everything has to be above a certain hight.

Good plan, @gjones ! I'm giving it a try. It feels good to bring some more life indoors now that we will be spending more time here.

Thank you @gjones ! Now when I Google it, I see that red star looks exactly like my plant. How great to have a community to point me in the right direction!

I feel bad for stripping so many of the lower leaves off this cordyline, but it was simply taking up too much space. Last winter I brought it into the living room and I just might do that again later on this year. The orangery is frost free, but it gets very damp so mould can be a problem.
I always have to take off the lower leaves because they eventually turn brown and die, yours doesn't?💘😍
Mine also go brown eventually and I have no problem removing them at that time - it is just that I feel like a complete villain when I remove healthy and alive bits... (don't talk to me about pruning, I feel like I should be apologizing for each cut!) @ShelleySnyder
😂😂😜💘😍
@columbiariver, it seems each year we talk about how strange the weather has become, I guess we should just accept the unexpected as the new normal. I could have kept mine outside still, it is certainly warm enough, but the wind does so much damage so I decided to rescue the cordyline now. My geraniums had a great summer, but now when the 'rainy season' (all year) is back, they prefer being back indoors.
We do what we can, @columbiariver 😉
