I'm trying to figure out what the lil red ones are. Too cute! This is from a book on houseplants I'm reading but it doesn't say what they are besides cacti.
@llamadrama that’s what I was thinking! If so they may not last long because they get photosynthesis through what they’re grafted onto. But maybe they’re not! It looks good in this fairy garden like that!
You guys were right, @llamadrama @ecoami. Red cap/ red top cactus/ ruby ball cactus. I'd like a full grafted one, it's a bummer the lil red caps don't survive on their own
Wow,thanks I've been trying to figure out what these little colorful spiked balls were,I had one that was grafted on a cactus but,I killed the cactus and wondered what 2 do with the pretty top,it seemed 2 grow a bunch of little ones on the side I plucked them off and grew them n soil.although the didn't survive any ideas on how to grow?
@melflower1 the book I found this in says that the red cap is grafted onto a cactus which feeds both plants. Sounds like the lil red caps you had wouldn't survive no matter what, tho you could try your hand at grafting it onto a cactus.

They almost looks like those gymnocalcium cacti that are what moon cacti are made of. It looks great.

It does indeed! I guess we'll never know how long it lasted haha

The red ones need to be on a green base cactus as they cant survive .Did they come like this?
