Because temps have dropped here at night to 8 degrees some. Ights now and they need min of 14 or they'll turn to mush. @vec

No that's not right Hayley. Minimum growing temp of 5° They'll only turn to mush if they freeze. They can take down to 1 or 2 degrees

I agree. I brought my young bananas in before frost. Just not worth loosing it. Even a chilly night will halt growth on any plant. I don't want any tropicals going dormant. Focusing on root growth for triple the sizes next year.

I dug my cannas and sage out today myself cannas potted up and sage now in bedroom it's nippy on a night here I'm back under quilt instead of throw 😥

I'm leaving my Canna in this year and mulching. I've taken loads of cuttings from my new sages, Amistad and Black n Blue which I'll overwinter in coldframe. Just in case the parents don't make it. My Other nana is also planted out and staying put this year, but fleecing etc. So we will see 👊🏼 @Keely

My sage aka lantana wouldn't survive even in Summerhouse it's far too cold, but cannas are ok usually. My black n blue all came back Hun just mulched them and they are in a pretty wet spot near hedge take a bit of getting going in late Spring but been fab again this year lost the love n wishes one though so cuttings are good idea, I've not done any this year as hoping as they are in there 4th year now should be ok as quite established now 👍😁

My Lantana are in pots, so i have potted into smaller pots, cut them down and hope to save for the second year. You know they are the Verbena family? @Keely

Do you leave the leaves on hayley, ive had a few yellow ones on mine which ive removed, not sure on how to over winter them though 🤔 i wanted them in the living room, but my wifes having none of it 😂

@hayleyaj I didn't know Hun I will cut mine down mine is the trailing type and hasn't grown much anyway not sure it will survive but one can try I have taken cutting too 😄
