Super worried about how high maintenance I hear these are....well.see I guess. Does anyone have any solid advice other than humidity? Just got it and had to remove a few yellow and crunchy leaves with brown edges. I'm the type of person that removes a leaf with even slight problems. I want them to be perfect so I have a feeling hes gonna end up bare lol #calathea #zebraplant
New leaves on my #calathea the plant is just 3 new leaves im hoping it grows in nice. I took all the brown edged leaves off
Looks good :) mine has about the same amount of leaves now and is recovering from fungus gnats :(
Ugh I have alot of gnats. They drive me nuts. They will die down then come back with a vengeance what did the gnats do to.your plant? I thought they werent supposed to.cause much damage. Like they ate dead material @lexicon
I'm pretty sure a whole bag of soil I used to repot lots of plants was infested and now they're all hatching. I took great care not to overwater a peperomia i got, knowing it was in peat moss, and the second time I watered it, it had NO roots! I think they ate them because it was a smallish plant with a small and fine root system. I've separated and repotted it hoping it will sprout roots :( using sticky fly traps and hydrogen peroxide soaks at the moment and i think its doing the job.
I do the peroxide thing too. And I have noticed plants that had roots have like none too. I guess that is why. Ugh so frustrating. I need to get the sticky traps for in plants. I also spray them with a dish soap and water mixture and it kills them. I have been battling them for quite awhile. I even bombed my last apartment 2 times to no avail @lexicon
