#advice I know black spots on leaves can just be an aesthetic problem but I'm worried about putting this strawberry tree in the border with other plants? Also since the black spot developed the new growth is red and full of black spots that sometimes go white in the middle. Am I just worrying over nothing?

@moore.794 I did have a google when I first spotted it and some people said its inevitable but doesn't affect the plant much. It's possible it had some black spot already it just wasn't as noticeable as it is now

black spot is another disease. you are looking at other leaf spot diseases. some leaves may drop. keep foliage dry and use good compost to ammend because there are beneficial fungi naturally occuring. trichoderma beneficial fungi may be of help
