Not long until potato planting season and a great time to get chitting. Who's planning to grow their own this year? What varieties are you planning? And, for a bit of fun, who can name the variety in our seed potato line up?! (it's a Friday, sometimes we go a bit silly)
@rachelbrooks fantastic! Very good luck ... It depends a bit what you like to use them for and when you'd like to harvest them. The good thing about the first and second earlies, opposed to main crop, is they're typically a bit smaller & take up less room though your main crop will store well and give potatoes through winter. Some fairly reliable ones to try include Lady Christl (first early), Pentland Javelin (first early) and Desiree (main crop) ...
@rachelbrooks there's also several varieties with the RHS Award of Garden Merit to consider, like Red Duke of York, Pink Fir Apple, Charlotte and Foremost. Very happy growing!

With a name like 'Desiree' we're sure you're right on the French fry! (Although ... It's actually a Dutch origin variety ...)

I am - for the first time ever! 😬 can you recommend a good one for a complete beginner? 😊
