Nasturtiums have made the hillside theirs 😊✌ planted a few seed packets in summer and now they have conquered most of the empty ground on the hill. Serves as great erosion control and gives an edble flower garden that helps pollinators 🐝 #nasturtium #droughttolerant #fall #farmer #farming #nature #happy #plants #entrepreneur #landscaper #naturephotogryaphy #landscaping #losangeles #california #gardening #garden #la #cali #shadeplants #permaculture #foodforrest #gyo #food #pollinatorgarden #ed

Yummy such sweet flowers, but the seeds are spicy, also shades the soil. No evaporation. Brilliant thoughtful planting

@thehardygardener yes great to keep the little water we have in cali in the soil haha. Thank you 😊

They reseed themselves? So they come back every year? I have a slight hill I'd like to plant something that will reflower. Yours looks lovely.

It’s almost hard to pick leaves off these nasturtiums, but they are so good 😆😛

Do you use them only raw, or use them in cooking, pickles or balms?

@matewe thanks 🙏😁

@KariSamuel I mostly eat them raw just in salads or juicing/blending them

I was thinking as a replacement for spinach, it would probably work on pizza or combined with cream cheese and stuffed into wontons, ravioli, jalapenos or squash blossoms? Hmmm... are they too spicy in large numbers?

@KariSamuel it depends I guess on your taste preference but for me it’s too bitter to eat in large quantities, but it brings out the best of a lot of other stuff so in small amounts it’s a super good spice to add to a lot of stuff. I’d more think of it as a substitute for black pepper with cooking

Ok. That makes more sense! You wouldn't want it to overpower everything else! 😘
