After my sad photo of my other Montana Elizabeth, I thought Iād brighten things up a bit with the #firstflower of my other, much happier clematis which is at the front of the house. It lives very happily with the variegated Ivy #clematis #clematis-montana #clematismontanaelizabeth #pink
They're so pretty 🌸🌸🌸
When the sun shines they give off a lovely aroma like vanilla. Needless to say, no scent today āļøāļøāļø @anges
Love the pale pink colour 🌸🌸🌸
Theyāre a lovely delicate pink. Love it when thereās lots of them and itās a sea of pink 🌸🌸🌸🌸 @pelly
#greatcolor
Thanks Eileen 🌸 🌸 @emch
This id beautiful 💗
It used to be the first flower in my garden until I started my planting frenzy last year, so itās always been a favourite 🌸🌸 @belindah
So pretty
Thank you 🌸🌸 @zephyrwindsong

A rather sad photo to match the dreary wet day. This clematis Montana Elizabeth has been a star performer for many years but is now looking very sad indeed. There are buds, leaves and flowers in some area, but others as you can see are not looking very well at all. Any thoughts or #advice please? #clematis #clematis-advice #clematis-help #help
Is there a build up of soil around the bottom of the stem? Maybe scrap back a bit and see if that helps although they donāt like their neck showing
Do you prune it after flowering Angela? 🤔
Thanks for this...Iāve just checked. There doesnāt appear to be any build up of soil Christine. Certainly no different to previous years. 🤔 @vegandmore
This is the one thing my husband loves doing, pruning the clematis. He sometimes gets carried away and I have to suggest heās done enough! I must admit he doesnāt prune the individual spent blooms, itās more a case of pruning it to keep it within the boundaries of the trellis @pelly
Probably weather related Angela, lots of odd things happening to my plants too 😕
Thatās my theory out of the window then 🙄😂 Iāve no idea then other than to agree with Julie 🤔
Grateful for your input Jane...itās often a process of illimination that gets us there in the end. I must admit that I wondered if my other half had been a bit too vigorous on the pruning front. Lol 😂 @pelly
I do hope so Julie and it will reinvigorate given time. I wasnāt sure if maybe the frost had got it? Just hope itās not clematis wilt? 🤞 @juliesgarden @pelly
I think Iāve just answered this on another photo.....but Iād take the bad out or chop it right back
I hope you can get it sorted and back to its former self 🌸
Thanks Elaine. 😊 Iāll chop out the bad bits and see what happens and will resort to a more drastic chop if that doesnāt work. Watch this space...! @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

Morning everyone 👋 Never have I been so pleased to see a bud open....all is well. It looks as though it was green petal rather than green leaf disease. Phew! 😅 😃 @DeborahBanks @pelly #clematis #clematis-montana #pink
Morning Angela, I'm really glad to see this 💞👍
Afternoon Angela, that's a happy ending! 😃💖👍
Yay! That good news Angela 😊
Thank you, Iām both delighted and very relieved in equal measure 😌😀 @pelly @anges @DeborahBanks

Something curious going on here. Just pruning and aside from finding out of season buds, I also came across this....it doesnāt seem to know if itās a leaf or a flower. Anyone seen anything similar? 🤔 #clematis #clematis-montana
Very curious, not that that's any help 🙄🤔
It was on a gardening programme I saw a while back. Itās something about clematis having tepals not petals so part can revert back to leaf form.
https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=349
Thanks so much Deborah. I notice it mentions the cause can be cold weather? Not had a lot of that lately! Desperately hoping itās not the other option...a bacteria-like organism called mycoplasma, known as green flower disease. Iāve got other clematis right next to it. 😔 Not sure how to determine which the problem is? Donāt want to leave it too late in taking action if itās mycoplasma rather than green petal. @DeborahBanks @pelly #clematisadvice #advice #help
Oh wow, green petal is what happens to my clematis Avant Garde every year on the first two or three flowers. I didnāt know what it was and tbh never looked it up because the plant was healthy. I bet thatās what yours is too Angela 🤞🤞🤞 @DeborahBanks
Yes, letās hope so Jane🤞The difficulty is that this is blooming out of season so I may not have subsequent flowers to compare it against and know for sure 🤷āāļø The clematis itself still looks healthy though, So hereās hoping 😊 @pelly @DeborahBanks
Actually, there is another bud on the same stem, so hopefully that may give some indictation @pelly @deborahbanks
@italydiva the programme it was on just said it was a benign thing.
Yes hopefully thatās what it is Deborah. The link to the article you sent mentions another possibility which is not treatable. Hopefully itās the former though🤞😊 Very grateful for the info! 😊 @DeborahBanks

Cataloguing - one very confused clematis Montana Elizabeth that is starting to flower again!! #clematis #clematis-montana #pink #climber
As I was scrolling through at first glance I thought it was a Japanese Anemone. It's a pretty colour 🌸🌸🌸
Not planted my Japanese Anemone yet Jane 😬😬🤫 @pelly
Hmm, I wonder why? 🤔😂😂
Errr....?! 🤷āāļø🙅āāļø@pelly
Morning everyone. Lovely rich colour on this early bloom. The bud however looks a bit grumpy, as though itās giving me a sideways glance āWhat are you looking at?!ā 😳😆 #clematis #clematis-montana #pink #bud #spring
😂😂😂😂🌸
Itās saying āwhatās she got that I havenātā 💗👌🏼
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom 😂 āLess of an attitudeā came the response
😂🤣😂
That's a beautiful colour 💖
Beautiful 🌸 😍
Thank you, I think itās the deepest colour Iāve ever seen these flowers, even upon just opening 💕 @hebelover @anges
Sheās a pretty one 💗
I see what you mean, Angela. Very comical 😂😂
