Hi all, I'm going to be planting up a new bed outside my son's bedroom, I'm thinking of a rose bed and maybe peonies as I seem to be expert at growing them for some reason! What else would you suggest to accompany these two so that we have continuous flowering? Also, I usually pot into containers as we have heavy clay soil here! Used to be a river bed! I would, however like to plant these out and although I have in the past mixed fine gravel into the clay (very heavy going).
Oh and I love very fragrant flowers too! It is to be a focal point as he spends a lot of time in his room, (he's wheelchair bound) so he loves to look out at the colours and visiting birds, foxes, squirrels etc!
This is a slightly better representation of the colour of this rose!

I have heard that mixing sand into the clay helps too! Anyone have any advise please?
