A "blue" poppy I bought from Bodnant Gardens has just flowered today 3/6/2019. Not quite doing what it says on the tin! 🤔

Oh that's annoying when that happens. It is pretty still. They like acid soil don't they and Monty said they prefer virgin soil so he moves his around to areas that are newly dug from lawn. Too much of a faff for me 😁

That does sound a faff Angie! It's still in the pot it came in as I'm still pondering the best spot for it. Maybe a bit of ericaceous compost might help 🤔 @angiecrazycatlady

That was my first thought too about soil acidity.

I'd have thought they'd have had it in ericaceous compost to start with, but maybe not? @ublaszko

Perhaps they start off purple and then turn blue as they age 💙
