I’m in the Notth too so maybe give them another Joan. Plant them on their sides to stop rain rotting them is one tip I picked up @joannie.a

@jendren thanks for tip mot tried that. My grandson was so desperate to grow them he asked all the growers at Harrogate for advice followed it all and still lost them 2nd year. But no-one mentioned side planting.
